Throughout the year, there are several opportunities for students to perform, which helps them and gain poise and self-confidence.
During the year, students perform in class for their parents during Parent Observation Days. Dancers are invited to participate with the studio in the K-W Santa Claus Parade in November.
In December, we offer an optional series of workshops which leads to a holiday-themed performance held at the Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts. We have performed The Nutcracker, The Nutmare Before Christmas, Holidays at the Movies, Santa’s Workshop and CSD Winterpalooza! performances.
In June, we present our annual production. Students in Kindies in Motion level and up have the opportunity to participate in our year-end shows. These performances are a constructive way to end the year as it gives students a chance to demonstrate to parents and friends how they have progressed.
Our dancers have travelled to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida two times (2014 and 2017) with Dance the World, where they were able to participate in a Disney parade and performances in the parks.
We do not enter competitions. It’s not that our dancers aren’t good enough to participate, we just choose not to participate. We are able to give our students a broader dance education and different dance experiences than other studios. Students interested in further performance opportunities are encouraged to audition for CSD’s Dance Company.
Wow Christine! We just love CSD and the fact that there are so many opportunities for students to perform outside of the “competitive” circuit. How many kids can say they got to be in a parade or perform at Disney?!?! My daughter is so excited about the opportunity to dance at DisneyWorld and is also excited to hear about the Nutmare performance in December!
